If you prefer your snake steamed, this is the way to go. Unlike the deep-fried snake mentioned earlier, the snake here has no bones whatsoever, making it far easier to consume. And trust me, it’s not fun to remove a bone from your mouth each few seconds. The claypot snake is soft, tender and, most importantly, not disgusting at all. It may sound and look off-putting (it’s the pale-colored, squid-like pieces in the image above) to you – or to me at least – but the taste is perfectly tolerable. If you can take squid and scallops – which is what this reminded me of – you’ll probably have no issues digging into this.

Be very careful, the snake meat contains a kind of worm that cannot be killed under high heat. It stayed beneath your skin and you will feel itchy most of the time. Worst case is your skin will start to scale patchely. Be careful.
