The Old Melbourne Gaol

The Old Melbourne Gaol is one of the city's most iconic landmarks and is steeped in dark history.

Some of the most infamous criminals, including bushranger Ned Kelly, were executed here when it was Melbourne's prison between 1842 and 1929.

Now a major tourist attraction, the Gaol is an interesting way to explore the darker side of Melbourne. Listen to chilling tales of the 135 executions that took place, with stories that get brought to life as visitors getting 'arrested' and locked in a cell.
