Win a 1-month, 10,000km trip across China
The ancient Silk Road is set to unravel its myths and treasures as Tune Hotels fully sponsors a lucky winner to discover the China leg of the cross-continent trade route.

Expected to start from 5 August 2012, the winner will join around 30 other explorers in the month-long four-wheel drive (4x4) overland expedition spanning over 10,000 kilometres along China's piece of the Silk Road. The team will leave Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in western China bordering Tajikistan and venture into the frontiers of the Silk Road, experience cultures, scenery and destinations that have remained untainted for hundreds and even thousands of years.
Covering nine key destinations over 30 days, with expedition members staying in mountain campsites, Mongolian yurts as well as hotels, the expedition will end in the Chinese northern city of Tianjin, near Beijing, from where the winner will depart back into his or her normal existence.
The sole winner will be chosen via the "Adventure on the Silk Road" contest on Tune Hotels Facebook page, www.facebook.com/tunehotels. The contest kicked off 21 June 2012 and runs until 15 July 2012.
According to the Group CEO of Tune Hotels, Mark Lankester: "The best travel memories is often about the experiences and the adventures and in a small way that's what we do at Tune Hotels. Every day our guests choose to stay at our network of hotels as a part of their broader plans for experience and adventure. We are offering Tune Hotels' Facebook members probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the Silk Road adventure."
"Anyone above 18 years of age and good health is eligible and the eventual winner will be determined by the support of their fellow countrymen and women. This really will be the experience to eventually tell your grandchildren about! Based on the current standing of country support, the winner seems likely to be from Malaysia but with other countries tailing closely behind, the winner may also come from Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, UK, Singapore or any other country."
To participate, one needs to become a Tune Hotels Facebook member and download the specially designed "Adventure on the Silk Road" application, available at www.facebook.com/tunehotels. Members can then participate by nominating themselves and answering a simple open-ended question on the Silk Road.
A unique aspect of the contest is that the entrant can also vote to support their respective country. This would effectively translate into a vote for his own nomination as the more support a country receives, the higher its chances of producing the desired winner. Participants can further enhance their chances of winning by posting it on their wall or timeline, and inviting friends to participate.
Upon closing of the contest on 15 July 2012, and once the country with the highest support is determined, the participant with the most creative and original answer from that country will be chosen winner.
"This ultimate road trip is not for the faint-hearted, as one can expect many exciting adventures and experiences be it discovering unique cultures and food, immersing in breathtaking sceneries, traversing the terrains and connecting with the locals. The whole idea is to share with our Facebook community the essence and philosophy behind the Tune Hotels brand. By overcoming both physical and mental challenges throughout the one-month journey, we hope the winner will have the most special and memorable experience that was made possible by Tune Hotels," said Mark.
Tune Hotels currently has over 75,000 members on its main Facebook page while cumulatively it has over 120,000 members under its country pages like Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and the UK.
Tune Hotels is part of Tune Group, a lifestyle business conglomerate co-founded by Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Dato' Kamarudin Meranun, who are the Group CEO and Deputy Group CEO respectively of Asia's largest low cost carrier AirAsia.
